Global Koto Music Network’s Online Masterclass Series No.3 will feature ‘SANKA -A Song of Praise-’, a koto solo piece composed by Koto Grand Master Tadao Sawai.
Ms. Kiyomi Ishigaki, a professor at the Sawai Koto Institute, will be the instructor, and Mr. Curtis Patterson, who has taught koto classes at Yokohama International School for many years, will be the host. Besides discussing performance techniques, tips and practice methods, this will be a rare opportunity to hear valuable insights from Ms. Ishigaki, who received direct guidance from the composer. She will also share her direct experiences with Tadao Sawai.
The beautiful melody of ‘A Song of Praise’ has made it one of the most popular among his solo compositions. This Online Masterclass is recommended for all koto students, whether you are currently studying the piece, have played it before, or even have never heard it but may wish to play it in the future.
